Black lagoon (ブラック・ラグーン Burakku Ragūn) is a manga series and an anime series. The animated TV series is based on the manga aired on April 8 2006 Japan. A very popular anime even now the third season is still ongoing and in October 2007 3 million copies of the manga series has sold over in Japan. The story/plot which takes place in 1990's in a fictional harbor city called Roanapur in the south east Thailand evolves around group of pirates/mercenaries named as Lagoon company. The story begins as a Japanese salary-man who joins the crew of the Black Lagoon after they kidnap him. Renames himself as Rock and does not fight but is an excellent negotiator and translator. Many of the characters who are most skilled with weapons are women (mainly guns), thereby bearing a similarity with "girls-with-guns" genre. If you are seeking for considerable amount of graphic violence, violent firefights, Hand to hand combat and a storyline you must not miss this anime.
